A call came at 3pm and was for a 54 year old male, who, whilst on a walk with his wife, children and dog, had slipped descending from Buckden Pike injuring his ankle. With the prospect of a long carryout we asked our colleagues in Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team for some help and they kindly sent over members to assist. Our first members on scene quickly assessed mum and the 2 younger children and then escorted them off the hill to be driven back to the car park. Casualty carers treated dad, splinting his leg injury before packaging him onto the stretcher for evacuation. They were joined by the Swaledale team members and the joint teams carried the stretcher back to the vehicles. Thank you to Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team for the assistance.
