The Team assisted Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service with a challenging underground dog rescue on the North York Moors.

Although technically outside our usual response area, UWFRA provides specialist cave rescue cover across this region as one of only a handful of UK teams operating across fell, water and cave rescue environments.

The dog (Maisie) had fallen deep into a narrow rift system, requiring careful technical rescue work in extremely confined conditions.

A huge thank you to our cave team who played a pivotal role in the rescue. Special mention goes to Lucy on her very first callout as a pre-probationer, where her cave skills proved a massive asset in helping reach and safely rescue Maisie
