Arncliffe Cote, Hawkswick

Just after midday on 14 December, the team was called out by North Yorkshire Police following reports of a 49-year-old male mountain biker who had taken a significant fall above Arncliffe Cote Farm, near Hawkswick.

The casualty had been discovered some time later by the local farmer, who immediately raised the alarm and stayed with him until help arrived. On arrival, our first team members carried out an initial assessment and began treatment for the effects of cold exposure and severe pain in the hip and pelvic area.

Due to the casualty’s condition, the terrain, and the potential seriousness of the injuries, additional support was requested from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Team members guided the land ambulance crew to the scene while air ambulance paramedics provided further care and pain relief.

Once stabilised, the casualty was carefully packaged and stretchered down to the farm, where he was transferred to the waiting land ambulance for onward care.

Our sincere thanks go to the farmer for their prompt actions and for looking after the casualty prior to our arrival. As always, we are grateful to the YAS and Yorkshire Air Ambulance crews for their continued support and teamwork.

We wish the casualty a very speedy and full recovery.
