The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) team was called out by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service on the evening of Saturday 1st November to assist a 49-year-old male who had sustained a suspected fracture to his lower leg on the bridleway above Foxup, in Littondale.

Given the remote and challenging location, the team requested additional support from our colleagues at the Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO). They responded with CRO3 and CRO4 vehicles and six team members, providing valuable assistance with the evacuation.

Ambulance paramedics were already on scene and administered strong pain relief to the casualty. UWFRA members assisted with splinting the injured leg and providing Entonox before the casualty was safely stretchered to a waiting road ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

We would like to extend our thanks to the CRO team for their excellent cooperation and teamwork, as always.

Everyone at UWFRA wishes the casualty a swift and full recovery.
