Suspected stroke Fountains Abbey
The Team was called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist in the rescue of a 75 yeal old gentleman who had suffered a suspected stroke whilst out walking near Fountains Abbey.
The YAS crew on scene had assessed the gentleman and were walking him slowly back to the ambulance with the assistance of other walkers, they had requested we continue as there was a locked gate and short hill climb between the patient and ambulance.
Looking to avoid any unnecessary effort on a hot day, the first team members on scene removed the gate from its hinges enabling the ambulance to be driven down to the casualty. The casualty was then assisted into the Ambulance before being driven off to hospital. The casualty's walking partner was taken back to their car in one of the team vehicles, whilst the remainder put the gate back to how it was on our arrival.
