The team was asked by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with the extraction of a boy who had fallen at Nidd Gorge. Whilst out for a family walk the casualty had run down the very steep embankment below the bridge and ran into the bridge wall at speed, potentially fracturing both arms. While Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics splinted the injuries and administered pain relief, the team rigged a safe exit route with ropes and attached the wheel to our stretcher. The team then transported the boy to the waiting ambulance for an onward journey to hospital.
