The team was called to assist a male casualty who had suffered a lower leg injury whilst walking with his wife in Hebden Gill. On arrival the team identified a potential fracture to the tibula and fibula and initially requested the assistance of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Unfortunately Helimed was unavailable so the assembled small team worked efficiently and effectively together to bring about a smooth and rapid extrication. Much needed pain relief was quickly administered before placing the injured leg in to a vacuum splint. The casualty was transferred onto a stretcher and carried a short distance to firm ground where the wheel was added for the 400 metre carry out to the waiting ambulance.
