The team was called by a local farmer, reporting that he had a large calf that had fallen into Strans Gill. He was unable to extract the animal without help.
The Team were still dealing with the incident at Brimham Rocks, so a stand by was put out, and a small party went to the site to assess the situation.
This led to a full call out being initiated meeting at Hubberholme.
The cow was placed in a large builders bag to prevent further injury and protect those lifting her. Scaffolding boards were used to create a flat surface in the gorge bottom, with flood sheeting used up the side of the gorge to get to flat ground at the top. The cow was then hauled up the makeshift route and then onto a trailer for transport back to the farm.
