Local team members who were quickly on the scene, assisted ambulance service personel to carry the casualty to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which had landed close by.

How Stean Gorge
The team was called by the North Yorkshire Police to search for a group of twenty one school children who had been reported missing on a walk from How Stean Gorge. The students had set off in smaller groups to complete a walk near their campsite and had become disorientated, possibly following route markers from previous events in the area. 15 were located on the road near Ramsgill by a Team member and escorted / transported back to their camp by the Police and the Team. The Team and locals searched the nearby roads and located the final 6 students just as it was getting dark. Once they realised they were lost the students sensibly grouped together and headed into the valley bottom where they were located enabling the search to be brought to a swift and successful conclusion. Thanks to the locals and How Stean Gorge staff who assisted in the search.

The members on scene assisted the YAS crew in moving the casualty into the ambulance.

Swan Dike Pot, Pen-y-ghent Gill
The team was called by North Yorkshire Police at 21.45 on Saturday night to investigate a party of four cavers who were overdue in Swan Dike Pot, above Pen-y-ghent gill. Two of the party had made their way out of the cave and reported that one member of the party was stuck behind a tight section of passage. The team was assisted by CRO and after several hours the casualty was assisted through the constriction and was on the surface by 05.00 on Sunday morning. Safe and well. The team then de-rigged the cave and returned to base. We would like to thank CRO for their assistance and Swaledale MRT for being on standby.

Cow Close Fell, Littondale
The team was called out by North Yorkshire Police to assist with the recovery of an injured paraglider pilot. The male pilot had encountered turbulent conditions and crashed into a steep hillside. A team member who witnessed the incident alerted the emergency services and performed an initial assessment and first aid. After Yorkshire Air ambulance paramedics arrived and gave pain relief to the casualty, he was stretchered by the team to the top of the hill, to the waiting helicopter.

Thornton Bridge
The team was called out to assist Scarborough and Ryedale MRT who had been searching the riverside and surrounding area for a missing, vulnerable, 64 year old male. A small team was tasked to search wooded areas and farmland with search dogs, whilst the swift water team searched the river and banks downstream of the bridge. The casualty was located in the river, but was found to be deceased. The team retrieved the body from the river and handed him to North Yorkshire Police.

The team was called out by North Yorkshire Police, following reports that an 18 year old male had fallen into How Stean Gorge. The casualty had sustained leg and pelvic injuries. He was first treated by Yorkshire Ambulance Service HART paramedics, then he was stretchered by the team out of the gorge, to a road ambulance. The ambulance transported the patient closer to where a Coastguard helicopter had landed and the team then transferred the patient into the helicopter.

Boroughbridge
The team was called out by North Yorkshire Police to assist with a search for a 76 year old female. A joint response with UWFRA, Scarborough and Ryedale MRT and a search dog from Swaledale MRT was initiated. The missing person was located by a member of the public arriving at work close to where UWFRA members were searching. He was on a footpath about a mile north of Kildwick village, The air ambulance was also on scene but after a rest he was able to walk himself to the waiting ambulance.

Team members have been working all night and through this morning along side many other teams evacuating houses in flooded streets. After being on standby since Saturday morning, the team was called out to give assistance with the on-going emergency flooding incident in Carlisle. A team of 10 swift water rescue trained personnel were sent to the scene. The team was tasked with evacuating a number of families, including their pets marooned in their houses and transporting them to safety. Having completed their allocated tasks, the team was eventually stood down and returned to base.

As Swaledale MRT were closer we requested they respond. The casualty was subsequently evacuated by air ambulance.

The team was called out by North Yorkshire Police after a dog was reported down one of the rock crevasses on Guisecliff. Paddy the spaniel was soon located and team members climbed down the six metre hole to recover it. A new animal bag was used for the first time. It has been designed after recovering Sophie the Boxer from the same hole last year!

The casualty had slipped down a steep embankment and sustained a head injury. Kettlewell
The team's cavers were put on alert at 21.30 after two cavers, both male aged 64, were reported overdue on a trip through Dowbergill Passage near Kettlewell. The two men were believed to have entered via Dow Cave at 11:00 that morning. After preliminary investigations the full team was called out to Kettlewell at 22:20. Two teams were sent in via the Dow Cave entrance and a third team via the Providence Pot entrance, the expect exit point for the missing cavers. Whilst the underground teams began the search, surface teams established radio locations at four separate points up on the moor to facilitate communications at key point in the cave. The missing cavers had completed the traverse of Dowbergill passage but had been unable to locate the exit point to Providence Pot despite searching for five hours. The missing cavers were located by the Providence Pot team and led out of the cave at 00:40; they were cold and somewhat embarrassed but otherwise unharmed after their fourteen hour ordeal. The message that the cavers had been located was passed to the underground team at the Dow cave end but the second team could not be contacted. They completed the through trip to Providence Pot and exited the cave at 03:30. All the team vehicles returned to base in Grassington by 04:00 and they they were cleaned and away by 04:15.

The team was called out by the North Yorkshire Police after a walker had reported a sheep stuck down a narrow rift on Hawkswick Clowder between Bordley and Littondale. The Team was called out by NYP requesting assistance in the search for a person who had gone missing in the Thruscross Reservoir area. We arrived on scene just as the light was fading and spent several hours searching the local area and access tracks across the moors. With nothing found and no leads on where to search next the team stood down pending further information and daylight. The missing person was located safe and well having walked a considerable distance beyond our search areas. The search was assisted by 2 SARDA (E) search dogs.

The lady had been walking from Arncliffe to Kettlewell and had lost the path and become extremely distressed. Fortunately, as the search was just getting under way, the lady was found by a local runner who brought her down to Hawkswick. The team was contacted by the Cave Rescue Organisation to assist after a diver was reported collapsed / injured beyond a 150m flooded passage in the disused Aber Las Mine. The team provided a diver plus technical diving equipment which was flown by RAF helicopter from Clapham to the mine. Sadly, a body was discovered about 300m from the entrance and was recovered by divers from the Cave Diving Group including an UWFRA member.

The team was called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with a 78 year old male who had a medical problem. Whilst our controller was responding to the call the team was stood down.

The team was called by North Yorkshire Police to search for two missing children. Fortunately, they were found before the team left the base.

The team was called by the North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for an 84 year old lady who had gone missing near her home. It appears she had fallen whilst on a walk but was discovered before the team could be deployed.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service requested assistance for an 81 year old male with a lower leg injury. Before anyone set off a stand down call was received to say that the Air Ambulance had dealt with the situation and the Team was no longer required.

Called by Calder Valley SRT to assist with injured 13 year old boy. Quickly stood down again as Air Ambulance had dealt with the incident.
